Assign Tag Number in the Parlor

In some circumstances, the tag number is assigned to the cow in the parlor using the MPC Control Box. This may occur when:

  • The user wants to attach and assign a new tag to a cow during milking,

  • System identifies a non-assigned tag,

Note: It is the user's responsibility to ensure the free tags are NOT already assigned to cows in the herd, prior to attaching and assigning them to new cows.

To assign a tag to a cow using the MPC

  1. In the milking stall, locate the animal without the tag.

  2. Hold the new tag near the stall antenna, then attach the tag to the cow.

The system identifies a non-assigned tag: blinks on the display.

  3. On the MPC Control Box at the milking point, type the animal number (displayed on the cow's back or ear tag), then press .

The MPC Control Box displays the animal number and animal data.

If an error has occurred, the MPC Control Box displays the error indication in the tag assignment report.

Note: The cows tag number can be changed for as long as the animal is in the milking parlor.
